Gerardo Francisco’s Ibong Adarna

One does not simply graduate high school – in the Philippines- without knowing the Filipino Epic Poem: Ibong Adarna. Ballet Manila brings this story into live action through their Fights of Fantasy; The 22ND Performance Season featuring Gia Macuja Atchison as the ever-majestic Ibong Adarna. The play will be held on August 26- Septermber 3 at the Aliw Theater CCP Complex, Pasay City. The epic poem revolves around a king who got sick because of a dream that his two sons Don Pedro and Don Diego conspired against Don Juan. None from the castle doctors can find a cure to the King’s sickness except for an enchanted old man who advised them that only the Ibong Adarna’s song could cure the king. Only one from the three princes was able to get the enchanted bird.
