Jaime Dempsey is not a foreigner when it comes to visiting the Philippines. She has been in our beautiful country many times, both for her show “Ride N Seek” and for History Con (Jaime was also here last year). So she’s already familiar with the culture, the people, and the food. Manilascope got to know more about Jaime and her show via a one-on-one interview last History Con. And it’s touching to see that she is in love more with the Philippines now. THE PHILIPPINE EXPERIENCE Visiting the Philippines in the show was one of the best experiences Jaime had in her life. She loves how welcoming the people are. In fact, she has made a lot of friends over the past three seasons. “I’m always excited to come back,” Jaime said happily. “I’ve met so many people and the love that people have for their country and the amount of motorcyclists here, it’s just really something special to see.” Jaime was also giddy to ride with some of her fans that she actually booked an extra day after History Con just to be with them. Apart from meeting people, Jaime also loves our Filipino food. Some of those she tasted include adobo (which she loves) and Bicol Express at different spice levels. For sweets, Jaime loves halo-halo, bibingka with coconut flakes, and suman. COMING BACK TO THE PHILIPPINES According to Jaime, she is always happy to come back here in the Philippines and go to other places with her bike and fellow motorcyclists. If there is one place she would want to go back to, that would be Busclan located in Kalinga. “(I want to go to) Wang-Od’s village and what I really want to do is have her niece complete the tattoo on the other side, so to continue the tattoo to the other side (of my shoulder), so I can have both generations. Oh my God, it’s just a magical experience.” Jaime said happily as she showed us her centipede tattoo on her shoulder. The centipede design is a symbol of protection and spiritual guidance. It also distinguishes the tribe’s bravest, fiercest warriors’ ability to meet challenges. JAIME ON HER BIKES When it comes to her bikes, Jaime has no sole favorite because “there are so many bikes for different types of riding.” For instance, she is starting in off roading, so she is buying some Honda dirty bikes. “I have Sierra 150. But as soon as I get back, I’m gonna sell that and buy the 250X.” She also delightfully explained about the other bikes she owned, “And then the other bike that I really own is the Honda C50 mini trail bike, like a vintage ones, like these tiny bikes, so cute. Yeah, just little bikes, so like, have fun on.” It’s nice to see the happiness in Jaime’s face and realize how passionate she is on her biking hobby. FUTURE OF “RIDE N SEEK” History Channel’s “Ride N Seek” is very popular around Southeast Asia because of its unique concept. Jaime uses her passion for biking to explore various countries, making sure to show her viewers how beautiful they are in her eyes. With its popularity, it’s no surprise that “Ride N Seek” has reached five seasons. However, Jaime is not yet sure about season 6 and she is crossing her fingers that her show will be renewed. “Right now, it hasn’t been confirmed, so I’ve been on the edge of my seat, waiting. I’m looking at my email everyday, looking at my phone messages and like ‘please tell me we’re gonna do it’”. She also heard a rumor that next season will be about the Philippines again. If this happens, she would be more than happy to come back, go to places she hasn’t gone to, and do anything that she hasn’t done yet. “There’s a few things left (to do).” MESSAGE TO WOMEN WHO WANT TO CHASE THEIR PASSIONS For fans, Jaime is a role model that they look up to because she gets to do something not usually done by women. Years before, biking/motorcycling and women don’t seem jive together. But thanks to Jaime Dempsey, she made it possible with her advocacies, clothing line, and travel show “Ride N Seek”. Now, with her as an inspiration, women can chase their passions and turn them into something they will truly love. For those women, Jaime has a message for you: “Reach out to anybody that you admire, that does what you want to do and get some pointers from them. That’s what I did. Don’t take no for an answer. Get out there and research how do you do what you want to do. So, I took a safety course to get started and bought my own bike and then I rode with other more experienced riders to kind of get used to the road. And now with social media, it’s so easy to reach out to other people. There’s this one girl, her name is Megan Griffith, she’s Canadian. And she is the most gnarly dirt bike rider you could ever see and I’m just a fangirl in Instagram. But if I message her, she writes me back and she answers my question like how do you stay fit. So yeah, just be inspired by those people who are doing what you want to do and believe that you can do it too.”
