Things to Remember in Attending Cosplay Mania 2018

For those who have attended pop culture events, they know it’s not a walk in the park. Aside from the long lines and big crowds, you also have to deal with carrying your stuff and staying hydrated. In order for you to enjoy Cosplay Mania 2018, here are some things you should remember before attending: 1. DON’T LEAVE YOUR BELONGINGS UNATTENDED. The moment you arrive in SMX Convention Center, never take your eyes away from your belongings. Even if security is tight, there will always be thieves in the event. If you can carry light, the better. However, if you don’t have a choice and need to bring a lot of stuff, especially if you’re a cosplayer, I suggest that you rent a locker or drop your things in the baggage counter. 2. BUY YOUR TICKETS BEFORE THE EVENT. I believe this should be a practice in every event. By buying Cosplay Mania tickets before the event, you don’t have to line up for a long time. Instead, you go to the designated booths for those who bought their tickets early and go straight to the event halls. You can buy their tickets at SM tickets (https://smtickets.com/events/view/6762) 3. GO TO THE VENUE EARLY. In case you really can’t buy tickets before the event, I suggest you get to SMX early. This way, you can get to the event halls early instead of waiting in line for hours. 4. BRING AN ECO BAG. This particular reminder is for those who will buy some merchandise. One of the things that we really learned in attending pop culture events is brining eco bags to secure our items. Not all exhibitors and merchants will give you a free eco bag, so it’s best to bring one yourself. 5. BRING SOME SNACKS AND WATER. One of the things you should remember in this event is that there are a LOT of people and you will be walking around for hours. Thus, it’s really recommended to eat and hydrate before entering the event halls. You can also bring water inside so you can hydrate while going around. Remember, your health should be a priority. 6. IF YOU’RE GOING IN COSPLAY, I ADVISE YOU TO WEAR AT LEAST HALF OF YOUR COSTUME (IF IT’S NOT ARMOR) AND DO YOUR MAKEUP BEFOREHAND. As far as I know, Cosplay Mania will be providing a dressing room for cosplayers, but there is a time limit per person. So it’s best to do half of your cosplay and makeup before going to the event, so you can just put the rest of your cosplay in the dressing room. It’s easier for you and for everyone who will use the room. 7. MIND YOUR MANNERS AND PRACTICE PROPER CON ETIQUETTE. BE RESPECTFUL TOWARDS THE GUESTS, ESPECIALLY DURING MEET-AND-GREET SESSIONS. The same goes towards cosplayers. Remember, cosplay is not consent. If you would like to have your picture taken with someone, ask first and respect the person’s right to say no. And if you see anyone being harassed, please report the incident right away to one of the event marshals so that the proper steps can be done. 8. ENJOY THE EVENT AND HAVE FUN.
