Save The Children: Lahat Dapat Campaign

Growing up in the late 80s, there was a UNICEF sponsored infomercial about the basic rights of a child. The right to education. The right to a safe environment to grow up in. The right to family. The right to nutrition…Our country has made major steps in making sure the Filipino children, the pag-asa ng bayan, enjoy these rights. We have a ways more to go, but with government, civil groups, and private individuals working together, our children will have a brighter future. With that said, the statistics of child death in the Philippines is grim and heartbreaking. Eighty children under five die each die. More than half of them die due to malnutrition. We rank 9 th in the world with the most malnourished children. Almost 3 million of our children do not eat and live in extreme poverty. Malnutrition directly affects physical and mental growth and health. Malnutrition has placed Philippines highest in the case of stunted growth among developing nations, which then affects workforce productivity. “Cost of Hunger: Philippines”, a report by Save the Children organization, shows that our economy loses at least 328 billion pesos annually as a result of the impact of stunted growth on education and workforce productivity. Two years ago, the biggest campaign against hunger and malnutrition was launched. The program Lahat Dapat endeavors for all Filipino children to have fair and equal access to nutritious food. As part of this program, Manilascope is one with the organizers in helping provide proper nutrition that Filipino children deserve. Manilascope supports the drive against child malnutrition and its irreversible impact. Let’s all help spread the word. Sign up and campaign here (insert website).
