‘SEEING BEYOND Photo Exhibit'

January 4-30, 2018
The Main Gallery
Solaire Resort and Casino

This photo exhibit is by a group of six photographers who describe their common pursuit as 'seeing beyond'.

Individual lens wander all over, but arrive at the same square: the struggle and search for their own safe places. Alas it wasn’t at that square. And neither a place with four corners or a destination one can stop at and rest.

With their lens, they find it inside themselves; not static, but a constant movement like a carousel of various images accompanied by myriad emotions. When was this? Is this joy or a struggle? What is the meaning? They mirror their souls through their work.

Featured Photographers:

Jeff Dytuco
Bern Wong
Michael Olivares
Tony Rivera
Angela Panlilio
Ferdie Tiongson

Olivares is explicit in his search for meaning: a safe place inside him.

Panlilio straddles the duality of stillness and movement, and sees the Hand that props us back.

Rivera finds his meaning in the lines of faces, through the eyes; the window to the soul.

Three are into distilling the essence of meaning.

Dytuco’s landscapes are grand, reflecting God, all the better to contrast man’s ‘minisculinity’.

Tiongson stripped his images of all photographic trickery and reduced the human body to a whiff of smoke, but no less corporeal ... and in the end reveals itself to be an expression of unbounded joy -- his meaning.

Wong’s is memories of a time and a place that evoke emotions and ideas, her window to the soul.

Six photographers going seeing beyond, exploring their meanings.

'Seeing Beyond' is a photographic exhibit for the benefit of ERDA Tech Vocational School.
